
Ogun State police have arrested a 31-year-old man, Olarewaju Idris, for allegedly raping an 18-year-old female student at Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun.
The suspected serial rapist defiled the girl, a Library and Information Department student, after meeting her in an Ijebu Ode lounge.
Omolola Odutola, a police spokesperson, confirmed the event to on Monday, adding that he approached the survivor at the nightclub, abducted her at knifepoint, drove her to a remote spot, and then savagely raped her.
Odutola reported that the kid arrived at the police station, apparently shaken, to report the event.
According to the information, the suspect was tracked down to a popular hotel in Erinwo, Ijebu-Ode, where he was instantly arrested on Saturday.
She explained, “At around 6:00 a.m., an 18-year-old survivor appeared at the police station, apparently frightened.
“She recounted how, around 1:00 am, the suspect approached her at the club and, under the threat of a knife, forcibly dragged her away to a nearby street, where he raped her before fleeing into the darkness.”
Odutola stated that the culprit had previously committed a similar crime on another TASUED student in a hotel, where police eventually apprehended him.
She went on: “In a twist, another TASUED student, also a 300-level student, arrived at the station shortly after, reporting a similar horrifying encounter.”
According to her version, between 2:00 and 3:30 a.m., the same suspect enticed her onto a motorcycle and drove her to the Magun Hotel in Ijebu Ode, where he assaulted her and left terrible bruises.”
She said that the inquiry was still ongoing, and the survivors were transported to Ijebu Ode State Hospital for immediate medical attention.
