Alhaji Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, has sharply denounced acts of vigilantism in the aftermath of the reported killing of a Fulani settler in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area, last week.
Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law in a statement released on Monday by the Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, and warned against individuals taking matters into their own hands.
The governor called an emergency security meeting in Lokoja on Saturday to discuss the event and hear from all parties involved. The gathering aimed to restore peace, preserve security, and avoid any potential retaliation assaults that may destabilize the neighborhood.
The statement read: “To restore peace and security in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has called an emergency security conference in Lokoja to address the indigenes of Isanlu and Fulani settlers.
