Dele Farotimi, a Lagos-based human rights lawyer and activist, has appeared before the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to face a defamation lawsuit brought against him by Afe Babalola, SAN.
On Monday, the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti granted him bail in a suit filed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, against him for suspected cybercrime.
Earlier, after Babalola’s plea, Ekiti State police detained Farotimi in Lagos and arraigned him before an Ekiti State Magistrates Court in Ado-Ekiti last Wednesday on accusations of defaming the elder statesman.
The magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, ordered that Farotimi should be remanded in the correctional centre, while he adjourned till December 10 (today) to hear his bail application.
