Reminisce, a Nigerian rapper, has stated that money has replaced excellent music as the decisive factor for a popular song.
During an appearance on the ‘I Said What I Said’ podcast, Reminisce stated that most popular songs nowadays are determined by large budgets rather than musical merit.
He stated, “The game has now progressed to the next level. You now have to spend money to obtain hits.
“Today, money generates hits rather than music. That is the period we are now in. Ask what the marketing budget was for the music you see [popping]. That’s what decides how popular a song is. “It’s not just music anymore.”
