Yayaha Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, has vowed to take legal action against an online
publication that published a claim tying him to an attack on President Bola Tinubu.
On Monday, Bello spoke through the former governor’s Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, and branded the publication as not only mischievous but also completely nonsensical.
The statement said, “Our attention has been attracted to a not only malicious but also nonsensical post published by a mushroom blog called Daily Excessive, which ascribed phony statements against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to our principal, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
“Normally, we wouldn’t have paid any attention to this since no knowledgeable Nigerian would take such a stupid story, written by a sick mind, seriously, especially since court records are public documents.
“This clarification is, however, necessary for the record and for the benefit of social media users who circulate fake news without fact-checking the details.”
He claimed that the revelation, which is part of irresponsible politicians’ desperate scheme to strain the connection between the President and the former governor, is the most ridiculous twist in their unsuccessful attempt to bring him down at any cost.
“The Media Office of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, hereby states that the report in circulation by one Daily Excessive blog, which quoted the former governor as saying that he would reveal to the world how President Tinubu became President, is not only misleading but also confirms how unintelligent some unrelenting detractors of the former governor are.”
