The state’s residents have been cautioned by the Ebonyi State Police Command not to use masquerade activities to violate people’s rights or impede traffic during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Joshua Ukandu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, issued this warning in a statement on Tuesday in the state capital of Abakaliki.
According to the statement, Anthonia Uche-Anya, the state’s commissioner of police, warned that lawbreakers would suffer the repercussions.
Additionally, Uche-Anya urged everyone to refrain from using fireworks and other explosives both during and after the season.
Because of the dangers of fire outbreaks and the anxiety that loud noises can generate, the command would like to warn everyone to avoid using bangers, or firecrackers, during this time.
“Mask-related activities and the burning of tires on roadways should not violate the rights of others or impede traffic; those who break the law will be held accountable,” the Commissioner added.
Area Commanders, Divisional Police officials, Tactical Team Commanders, and other senior police officials within the command had received a security briefing from the command, she said.
She urged cops to refrain from all sorts of corruption and extortion and emphasized the value of being courteous when performing their responsibilities.
To guarantee sufficient security during the holiday season, the state police chief ordered the improvement of current deployments and urged for appropriate supervision of subordinates.
