Police smash illegal weapon manufacturing and arrest a cult hitman.

The Nigeria Police Force announced on Friday that two suspects had been arrested for operating an illicit weapons manufacturing plant in the Tse Akamabe area of Kwande LGA, Benue State.

The police also reported the arrest of two suspects in murder cases in Kebbi State.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja, confirmed this in a statement released on Friday.

Adejobi also claimed that police officers from the Delta State Command raided the apartment of Prosper Akeni, a notorious Eiye confraternity member.

According to a police spokeswoman, security personnel recovered firearms and 25 rounds of ammunition from Akeni, 32, who is also accused of being a hitman for the cult group.

According to Adejobi, the suspect confessed that the guns recovered belonged to his cult organization and that he was in charge of them as the group’s leader.

“Similarly, on December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM, the police arrested Yunusa Haruna, a 25-year-old male from Bakin Turu Village in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, who fatally stabbed his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, with a sharp knife in the chest.In reaction to the event, police officers from Shanga’s Divisional Police Headquarters rushed to the area and detained the culprit. Another suspect, Abubakar Ummar, was detained in Zuru Village on January 8, 2025, for stabbing Mohammed Bala after an altercation, killing him instantly.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has complimented the operatives for their historic successes in the fight against crime and criminality, and has directed police operatives to step up efforts to restore sanctity across the country. The IGP also advised the public to be vigilant at all times and to share useful information with the police in order to support a community-based policing system,” Adejobi remarked.
