NANS made this request in a statement signed by Abdul-Yekinn Odunayo, Clerk of the Senate at NANS National Headquarters, on Monday in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

Odunayo, who lamented the low number of student loan applications from Nigeria’s south, stated that the loan plan was established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to assist Nigerian students in achieving long-term higher education and functional skill development.

He went on to say that the student body had noticed that students from the north were taking advantage of the plan more to further their education, and that students from the south would be doing themselves a disservice if they did not emulate their northern counterparts.

Odunayo praised NELFUND for making the loan application procedure simple for Nigerian students and praised President Tinubu’s administration for introducing the initiative.

According to his statement, the student loan scheme has helped many destitute Nigerian students fulfill their aspirations, and he urges NELFUND to continue to operate with accountability and integrity.

Odunayo, however, challenged the agency with engaging in more publicity to better increase awareness about the loan initiative, particularly for students in the southern part of the country.
