The organization emphasized its dedication to addressing the core causes of disease, building health systems, and responding to health emergencies, frequently in difficult and dangerous situations.
Since the WHO’s creation in 1948, the United States has had an active role in its governance through the World Health Assembly and the Executive Board.
The statement explained that the US-WHO relationship has resulted in tremendous achievements over the last seven decades, including the elimination of smallpox and the near-eradication of polio.
WHO emphasized the significant contributions provided by American institutions, which have supported and profited from the global health body’s initiatives.
