Paul Put, Uganda’s head coach, has acknowledged the strength of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Cranes are placed in Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
The East Africans defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in their sole competition match in 1978, which was hosted by Ghana.
Put confessed that his team’s success in the group will be dependent on their own belief.
“There are no easy games in Africa.” We will face Nigeria, the finalists from the previous edition, and Tunisia, a squad that has routinely advanced to the tournament’s latter stages,” the Belgian remarked following the draw ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
“Tanzania introduces the derby element, which is always heated. However, we need to believe in ourselves.”
Tanzania’s final group game will be against the Super Eagles on Tuesday, December 30, in Fez.
