On Monday, seven suspects appeared in a Kwara State High Court for the alleged murder of Mojisola Awesu, a final-year female student at the College of Health Technology in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were then remanded in jail custody, and the trial judge, Justice Ibrahim Yusuf, delayed the case until February 24, 2025, due to the unavailability of defense counsel for the two main accused.
Happiness Adebayo and Timilehin Kolawole are accused of planning to kill Mojisola Awesu on August 9, 2024.
Adebayo and Bukola Adeniyi, Happiness Adebayo’s parents, are among the five other suspects, as are Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus, hotel employees who are accused of murdering Mojisola.
The accused are charged with six counts of conspiracy, murder, disappearance and destruction of evidence, and dumping the late student’s body in a garbage disposal facility.
The prosecution claims that the offenses violate and are punished under Sections 97, 221, and 167 of the Penal Code CAP P4, Laws of Kwara State, and the Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law of 2018.
When the matter was summoned in court on Monday, the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Ayoola Akande, who led five other lawyers, declared his appearance while Barristers E.A Ahmed and A.I Orisankoko appeared for the parents and hotel workers.

As a result, the trial judge ordered that the major defendants, Happiness Adebayo and Timileyin Kolawole, be remanded in a correctional facility, and the case was delayed till February 24 for their proper arraignment.
According to reports,Happiness Adebayo and Timileyin Kolawole allegedly brought the deceased to Ilorin, the state capital, and then murdered her before her body was recovered at a waste site in Ilorin’s Warah village.
Happiness Adebayo and his parents, Adebayo and Bukola Adeniyi, are accused of conspiring to cause the disappearance and destruction of evidence, which is criminal under Kwara State’s Penal Code Law, 2006.
Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus are charged with conspiring to dump the body of Mojisola Awesu at a dump site along Warah Road, Ilorin.
