American rapper Dajua Blanding, also known as Dank DeMoss, is suing ride-hailing business Lyft for weight discrimination after a driver rejected her service due to her girth.
She claimed she was embarrassed by the encounter, which she recorded on her iPhone and shared on TikTok.
“I felt wounded and ashamed. I’ve been in that same sort of automobile several times and have never had a problem. “This was someone who discriminated against me solely because of my weight,” DeMoss told CBS News.
The 489-pound Detroit rapper’s attorneys claim the driver violated Michigan’s anti-discrimination statutes, which list weight as a protected characteristic.
