Joshua Nwafor, a 40-year-old Ebonyi man, is accused of killing his wife Charity over a yam tuber in Nsokkara, Ezza South Local Government Area, in the state.
It was discovered that the couple had lived in peace in their house for 17 years when the tragedy happened.
When Joshua brought out a yam to cook for the family, the wife insisted on eating roasted yam instead, so she did, and that’s when things began, one eyewitness informed reporters.
When Joshua lost his temper, he pulled his wife into the room, closed the door, and beat her till she passed away.
Confirming the occurrence, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, decried the terrible incident, adding that a thorough investigation would be undertaken and the culprit would be sent to court.
