Police from “B” Division in Warri, Delta State, have arrested Apiakise Samson, a serving Assistant Inspector of Prison, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
This comes as the Divisional Police Officer, DPO “B”, CSP Christopher Odoh, refused a five million naira bribe offered to him by some unidentified individuals in order to cover up the situation.
According to reports, the defilement event took place on January 21 on Obahor Street in Warri.
It was discovered that on January 21 at approximately 11 p.m., the suspect approached the young girl, forced her into the Correctional Center, beat her up, removed her clothes, placed her on the ground, and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.
He was claimed to have permitted the girl to return home the next morning about 5 a.m.
When the girl, a JSS III student at Ugbuwangue College in Warri, returned home, she informed her mother, who had been looking for her all night. The girl’s mother, outraged by the event, reported the incident to Police Station “B” Division.
The defendant was apprehended after a medical check by Dr. A. Akpofure of the Central Hospital in Warri revealed penetration and blood stains.
When our correspondent called the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, for comment on the situation, he stated that he had not received a report from the DPO.
