Nigerian prominent singer David Adeleke, AKA Davido, thanked Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, for winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammys on Sunday.
Tems’ smash single ‘Love Me Jeje’ triumphed against “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade), “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid), “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and “Higher” (Burna Boy).
“Love Me Jeje,” a sample of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 song of the same name, has gained critical acclaim from global music fans since its debut in April.
Reacting, Davido in a statement on his X page said he was proud of Tems.
He wrote, “Congratulations to my one and only! @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby we are proud of you.”
