American rapper Sean Carter, as Jay-Z, has responded to a lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside notorious music tycoon Sean Combs, called Diddy, in 2000.
Tony Buzbee, a lawyer, launched a civil action against Jay, accusing him of statutory rape.
Jay-Z responded quickly on Sunday, denying the charges and challenging Buzbee to file a criminal complaint.
The rapper referred to the charges as “false and blackmail.”
The statement said in part: “My lawyer got a blackmail attempt, known as a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.
“What he had anticipated was that the severity of these claims and the public attention would compel me to settle. No, sir; it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a very public fashion. So no, I will not give you one red penny!
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!
“Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
