A suspected vandal, Obioma Joseph Nwadinma, was electrocuted in Abia State while attempting to vandalize an electricity transformer at Abayi Ogbuligba Junction in the Osisioma Ngwa LGA.
His partner in the attempted theft was apprehended by members of the public while fleeing.
According to Edise Ekong, Aba Power’s Brand and Communication Manager, one of the vandals, Obioma Joseph Nwadinma, died while attempting to steal upriser wires from the 500kVA distribution transformer, but was electrocuted as he fled the scene.
In other news, Isaac Ude was detained for tampering with prepaid meters at the Tonimas building, located at 10 Diobu Avenue off Aba-Owerri Road in Aba North LGA.
The alleged thief was arrested by local locals and turned over to Aba Power’s security staff and police.
Ekong complimented Aba locals for their caution around electricity installations, stating that such vigilance was crucial in reducing vandalism and guaranteeing uninterrupted power delivery.
Ekong grieved the loss of life, highlighting the disgraceful character of Nwadinma’s acts, which have disgraced his family and community, while promising that Aba’s power supply will soon be restored.
