Five people have been confirmed killed in the Lagos-Ibadan expressway tragedy.

On Sunday night, a lone accident involving a Mercedes Benz jeep at the Fatgbems bus stop on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway claimed the lives of five individuals.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, confirmed the occurrence in a statement on Monday.

Odutola claimed that the accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. and was caused by the Mercedes Benz driver’s irresponsible driving.

“The accident occurred when the driver of the Mercedes Benz, driving towards Mowe, lost control, hit the culvert, somersaulted, and turned in the opposite way.

“Three men and two women inside the vehicle were confirmed dead, while one person sustained injuries,” she informed me.

Odutola added that the injured victim was brought to AZ Carezone Hospital, while the deceased were deposited at Real Divine Hospital’s morgue in Ibafo.

She stated that families of the victims had been notified.

The police spokesperson reminded motorists to always drive cautiously.
