On Tuesday, an Area Court in Jos convicted a student, Weng Pam, to six months in prison for stealing home items valued N150,000.

Shawomi Bokkos, the judge, imposed the sentence after the defendant pled guilty to the charge.

However, the judge gave the convict the alternative of paying a N30,000 fine, compensating him with N50,000, or serving another six months in prison for default.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Daniel, informed the court that Mr. Jerry Pam reported the matter to the B Division Police Station in Bukuru on December 14, 2024.

He noted that the complainant claimed that the accused broke into his home and took his home theater and clothing, all worth N150,000.

He further stated that during the police inquiry, the inmate confessed to perpetrating the offense.

He claimed that the offense violated the Plateau State Penal Code law in Northern Nigeria.
