Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) former governorship candidate in Lagos State for the 2023 general election, has resigned.
Jandor, who announced his resignation at a press conference in Lagos on Monday, stated that his reasons for leaving the party were due to indiscipline and anti-party activities, which he claimed had become the standard within the party.
Jandor, flanked by a large crowd of supporters, indicated that the decision to leave the PDP was prompted by activities made by some of the party’s officials, notably former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, whom he accused of working against the PDP in the 2023 elections.
Speaking about his next political move, Jandor stated that he will consult widely before transforming his framework into another political platform.
“We will consult with everyone and then make the decision to move our structure to another platform.” “What is now widely accepted is that we have left the Peoples Democratic Party,” Jandor added.
Prior to joining the PDP, Jandor was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and led the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which intended to strengthen internal democracy inside the party.
He joined the PDP in January 2022 and earned the party’s gubernatorial candidacy for the 2023 elections, finishing third behind incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP).
