The youths of Kwara South gathered in large numbers at Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government area, to design a new direction for their political futures.
The conference organized by the Kwara South Young Stakeholders, with the theme “Kwara 2027: The Kwara South Youths’ Perspective,” saw a large turnout.
The summit coordinator, Comrade Abiola Lawal, opened the deliberations with a passionate proclamation that Kwara South must rise to the occasion and play a major role in the 2027 gubernatorial race.
He emphasized cooperation, strategic planning, and steadfast dedication to electing a governor from the district.
Hon. Raphael Adetiba, former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, made the keynote address, while Comrade Ben duntoye , a former national president of the Youth Council of Nigeria, provided strategic direction on youth participation and the importance of building strong political alliances.
At the close of the session, the youths reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to preserving the historical tie between the Ekiti, Ibolo, and Igbomina blocs, recognizing unity as a critical pillar in their campaign for the governorship.
They urged the state government to step up security operations in Kwara South to protect lives, property, and businesses in the region.
The youths also demanded a more equitable distribution of state resources, emphasising the urgent need for infrastructural and economic development in Kwara South.
While commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his developmental strides, the youths categorically rejected any form of automatic endorsement for any senatorial zone.
Instead, they encouraged qualified and capable sons and daughters of Kwara South to step forward and contest for the 2027 governorship seat
They also called for a structured rotation of the governorship position among the three senatorial districts to ensure balanced leadership representation across the state.
