Mojisola Meranda has been sworn in as the Lagos State House of Assembly’s first female Speaker.
Meranda took her oath of office following the impeachment of previous Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Monday at a plenary session.
She represents the Apapa 1 state constituency in the legislature.
When she took her office oath, Meranda stated, “I affirm that I will be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; that I will perform my functions honestly to the best of my ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
