The Lagos State Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of the pedestrian bridge that connects Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3, citing safety concerns.

The authorities voiced concerns about the bridge’s safety and structural integrity.

Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, issued the order in a statement on Friday, expressing concern about the bridge’s condition.

“The order also directed the contractor in charge of the terminal’s initial construction, through the Office of Infrastructure, to install concrete barriers at the bridge’s entrances.” “This is to protect the lives of pedestrians using the infrastructure,” he stated.

The commissioner added that the closure would allow for a full structural integrity examination of the bridge, determining if it needed to be repaired or rebuilt.

While the inspection is being undertaken, Osiyemi urged people to use an alternative bridge 30 metres away.
