After scoring his first hat trick for Real Madrid in a 3-0 win against Real Valladolid over the weekend, Kylian Mbappé stated that he is more concerned with the club winning the championship than ending as LaLiga’s top scorer.
Mbappé opened the score in the 30th minute, following a clever one-two with Jude Bellingham, before adding a second goal in the 57th minute and converting a penalty in extra time.
Madrid now leads LaLiga with 49 points, four ahead of second-placed Atlético Madrid, which drew 1-1 with Villarreal earlier on Saturday.
“I’m happy with the hat trick, but I’m more happy with the win,” Mbappé told Real Madrid TV. “It was critical to win today. There was more pressure following Atleti’s result.”
Mbappé now has 15 league goals this season and 22 in all competitions, with an eight-goal streak in his previous five outings.
