Melania Trump announced the introduction of her own cryptocurrency, $MELANIA, on the day before her husband, Donald Trump, was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.
The idea comes after the previous release of the $TRUMP cryptocurrency, both of which have acquired traction.
Melania took to X late Sunday, saying, “The Official Melania Meme is Live! “You can buy $MELANIA right now.”
According to its official website, the $MELANIA coin is a cryptocurrency based on the Solana blockchain, which is well-known for its scalability and speed. The website emphasizes that the coin is “not intended to be, or subject of, an investment opportunity or a security.”
Similar disclaimers are also present on the $TRUMP cryptocurrency’s site.
Despite previously dismissing cryptocurrencies as a “scam,” Donald Trump’s opinion changed radically during the 2024 presidential campaign, when he embraced digital assets.
Trump became the first presidential contender to accept cryptocurrency payments, promising broad changes to the financial regulatory environment.
