President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has underlined his administration’s commitment to upgrading Nigeria’s security architecture, stating that national security is a key component of his governance.
He made the statement at the Chief of Defence Staff Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja yesterday.
Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru, praised the military and security services for their tireless efforts to confront security challenges across the country.
He stated, “While I appreciate the tremendous efforts of the Armed groups, I also want to commend the numerous joint task groups and security agencies operating around the country for their perseverance in bringing all armed criminals to justice.
“This has been critical in maintaining peace and stability in our country. Let me assure you that I have prioritised Nigeria’s security and will continue committed to supporting our Armed Forces and other security and paramilitary services in carrying out assigned missions and duties.
He emphasised the need for synergy among all security armsto tackle the evolving security landscape effectively.
Tinubu advised attendees to look into new ideas, integrate emerging technologies, and foster multi-agency collaboration in order to effectively combat the nation’s security concerns.
Senator Ahmed Lawan, head of the Senate Committee on Defence, urged increased investment in the defence and intelligence industries to properly address the country’s security problems.
Lawan also pushed for revamping military procurement processes to better meet the operational needs of various security services.
Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, spoke at the ceremony, as did Amb. Dunoma Ahmed, the permanent secretary. He emphasized that maintaining peace and security remained a key component of Nigeria’s foreign policy.
He remarked that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the military share a same purpose of ensuring that Nigeria remains a constant hope for Africa and the global community.
He continued: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes seriously the crucial task of translating our government and people’s vision and aspirations into effective diplomatic action,” .
