Human rights attorney Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, Ogun State leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, Segun Sowunmi, and Senator Bashiru Ajibola, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, have all voiced differing opinions about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.

Tinubu’s economic policies were criticized by Adegboruwa and Sowunmi, while Ajibola stood up for the president, claiming that his actions were the best.

These claims were made by the three on Wednesday when they discussed the subject of “The Tinubu Administration’s Economic Agenda and Policy: How Far? As of right now,” at a celebration commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) Ibadan chapterTinubu’s actions, according to Adegboruwa and Sowunmi, have caused widespread hardship, inflation, mass poverty, and the “Japa” syndrome.

On the other hand, Ajibola claimed that Tinubu had made the best economic policy choices for the nation.

“We have devolution of power if you look at the APC manifesto and constitution,” Adegboruwa stated. Examine how we have failed to address true federalism and restructuring. Nigeria is overbloated, according to a report presented by Orosanye. He recommended that we either eliminate these agencies or combine some of them.

“I propose that the president seize his party’s constitution and manifesto, enact devolution of power, and completely restructure the government.” Second, pay attention to the infrastructure..The majority of our roadways are in poor condition. You can only go by air. An enabling environment must be established. Government policies are inconsistent. On the Senate floor, for example, certain senators are being removed. The establishment of an independent judiciary should be our top priority. In my opinion, we haven’t begun anything at all under Tinubu’s administration thus far.

As a response, Sowunmi denounced Tinubu for eliminating the Premium Motor Spirit, PMS subsidy.

“Men from the South West are handling both the disbursing and receiving ends of their’mystery index,'” he claimed. Southerners lead the CBN, the Ministry of Finance, the Chief of Army Staff, the IGP, and other organizations. That is so tribal and irrational. With the naira still losing value and the dollar increasing daily, how long will we have to wait for the economy to improve? Our people are storing their money in their personal safes rather than in banks, but you want monetary policy to change.

Adegboruwa and Sowunmi asserted that Tinubu’s administration is a socialist one, but Ajibola retorted that this is untrue. He went on to say that the socialist standards should no longer be applied to evaluate Tinubu’s administration

He stated: “We are recognizing the significant problem of inflation in the nation, which is why the president’s 2025 budget today is focused on lowering inflation. We’re starting a huge infrastructure project to help our people’s economy grow.

“Our economic policies are unambiguous. We now have a single exchange rate, and the nation’s outstanding foreign exchange debt has been paid off. Nigeria now has an environment that is conducive to investment. Even the lecturer acknowledged the efficiency of the fuel subsidy. The economy we are striving for would deter fraudulent manipulation and foster the advancement of Nigerians.
