The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, has lambasted Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, for proposing electrical migration plans.
During a budget defense session in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Adelabu stated that 90% of power consumers in Band A had verified that they profit from being in Band A.
However, Ajaero, who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, criticized the process of transferring clients from one band to another, claiming it is discriminatory.
The NLC president stated that the service-based pricing, which classifies power customers into different bands, is the most serious kind of fraud.
He stated, “Now the ministry is discussing the transition from Band B to Band A. That is the greatest level of 419 one can think of.
“Who is in Band A? Who is in Band B? Is it predicated on your geographical location that you have Band A or Band B, or is it determined by the provider?
“Why would anyone be discussing Band A or Band B in countries that want to provide 24-hour power? How would this happen? So, such a notion is developed to gain money unnecessarily while claiming that many have migrated.
