Olamide, a Nigerian rapper, is the first African rapper to reach 1 billion Spotify career streams, thanks to his use of Afrobeats in his music and collaborations. Olamide was also the first African rapper to be nominated for a Grammy last year, with his collaboration with Asake, ‘Amapiano’, nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category but losing to Tyla’s ‘Water.’
