Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that if he were his father, he would have disowned Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees.
Wike accused Wabara of contributing to the PDP’s internal problems.
The Minister, speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, blamed the party’s backwardness on the acts and words of some PDP leaders.
Wike said it was improper for PDP leaders to urgently seek the expulsion of Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and National Secretary Sam Anyanwu, notwithstanding court judgments.
According to Wike, “If Wabara was my father, I would have disowned him.” He doesn’t deserve to be the leader. It’s no surprise that Obasanjo made a presidential broadcast regarding his corrupt activities.
“It does not disturb me at all. The matter is before the courts, and the party constitution is clear.
“If they resign, they must be replaced via election. The idea that someone is attempting to circumvent this process does not surprise me.
Some people are attempting to manipulate the situation, but it will not be successful. The subject is before the courts, and we must follow the rule of law. We must focus on resolving internal party concerns, particularly in light of the impending convention.
“Instead of stoking crises, the convention should take place as scheduled in December, and we should usher in a new executive.”
