Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential contender for the 2023 election, has voiced alarm over the nation’s growing crime rate, notably kidnappings.
This was confirmed in a message posted on X (previously Twitter) on Thursday.
The former governor of Anambra State warned that the growing wave of kidnappings and killings has affected everyone, including essential areas like agriculture, education, and healthcare.
He added, “The frequent occurrence of crimes, particularly abduction, in the country today is troubling and is raising widespread concern.
“Today, no one is immune to the hazardous wind of kidnappings and killings sweeping over the country.
“Every Nigerian feels the heat of insecurity, which has continued to damage every element of our country, from agriculture, where farmers are frequently chased from their farmlands to health and education, where essential professionals are sometimes kidnapped or slain.
“This is shown by the ongoing kidnapping and, in some cases, murder of our farmers, professors, and lecturers at various institutions and colleges.
