The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of 27 senior police personnel, including 11 Commissioners of Police elevated to Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police.
The Commission, in a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, stated that this development was disclosed at the PSC’s second plenary meeting.
Ani explained that the newly promoted officers underwent rigorous written and oral examinations at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters on December 16th, after the Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that both written and oral examinations would now be required for promotion in all cadres of the Nigeria Police Force.

He explained that DIG Taiwo Lakanu, who chaired the promotion interviews, advised the newly promoted officers to demonstrate unwavering dedication to their new roles and continue giving their best in service.
The promotion is a significant development in the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of its senior officers.
DIG Lakanu said they must give their best in service, adding that the Commission will continue to ensure that their promotions are timely and based on merit.
