Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that Katsina State remains an APC state, dismissing a mistake made by State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in declaring the state a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stronghold.
The event occurred during the distribution of party flags to the 34 APC local government chairmanship candidates ahead of the February 15 elections.
In what looked to be a slip during the high-profile political event in Ingawa, Governor Radda, while pushing APC supporters to mobilise for the next local government elections, declared, “Katsina will be PDP and continue to be PDP.”
Although he swiftly corrected himself, the crowd’s reaction was mixed, with opposition members seeing the statement as an indication of the PDP’s expanding dominance in the state.
Despite the miscalculation, Governor Radda reiterated the APC’s determination to maintain its majority in the state.
“We are prepared for the upcoming elections, and I am convinced that the APC will win in 2027 as well. “Katsina is united under the APC,” he stated.
