Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, who was captured with the severed head of 24-year-old corps member Salome Eleojo Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty after being charged at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State’s capital.
He was arraigned on Monday before Justice Simon Aboki and charged with one count of culpable homicide punishable by death, according to Section 221 of the Northern Nigeria Penal Code.
According to reports, 32-year-old Timileyin was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, 2025, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s head after killing her and dismembering her body parts while she allegedly visited him at his home.
During interrogation, the suspect said that Salome was his girlfriend and that he murdered her when she visited his residence in the Papalana axis at New Karshi in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area on that tragic day.
While being displayed at the police station, Timileyin insisted that he did not regret his acts, but that they were unplanned.
“I killed her because we didn’t have each other all the time; it wasn’t something I intended. It happened on that specific day. Not that I had a plan in mind; she was cheating. She usually hides most of the things from me. I found out via her phone. I saw her phone conversations with other guys, which prompted my decision,” he explained.
