Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has urged corps members from the National Youth Service Corps stationed in the state to aggressively promote national unity and integration throughout their service year.

Speaking at the 2024 Batch C Stream II corps members’ swearing-in ceremony on Friday at the Wamakko Permanent Orientation Camp, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Muhammad, urged the corps members to avoid social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and misconduct.

The governor praised the NYSC management for its role in developing and mentoring Nigerian youngsters to support government policies and activities. He emphasized how the scheme has contributed greatly to the country’s growth and development in a variety of industries.

Aliyu emphasized the service’s importance as a unifying factor for youths from various ethnic, religious, and academic backgrounds. He praised the initiative for encouraging patriotism, industry, and hard work, noting its favorable impact on socioeconomic development through community-driven activities.

“I admire you for answering the call to serve our country. History will surely remember you for your patriotic fervor.

“I gladly welcome you to Sokoto State, the Caliphate’s seat. Your deployment here should be considered as God’s will. The three weeks of orientation demand strength, discipline, tolerance, and sacrifice, but they will lay a solid basis for your future endeavors.
