Stop supplying offensive weapons to Israel, US legislators write Biden.

Greenmax

Twenty Democratic congressmen in the United States have urged President Joe Biden to suspend the sale of offensive weapons to Israel.

They emphasized that the Israeli government has failed to meet America’s pleas for additional supplies to enter Gaza.

This was said in a letter delivered to Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, on Tuesday.

Summer Lee and Greg Casar spearheaded the letter, in which Congress members encouraged the Biden administration to obey its own rules, which ban military aid to nations that commit war crimes and block US-backed humanitarian assistance.

“We believe continuing to transfer offensive weapons to the Israeli government prolongs the suffering of the Palestinian people and risks our own national security by sending a message to the world that the US will apply its laws, policies, and international law selectively,” according to the letter.

Failure to act, according to the legislators, would extend Israel’s war on Gaza, “isolating Israel on the international stage and creating further instability in the region”.
