The Nigeria Police Force has asked inhabitants of the Federal Capital area (FCT) to remain calm, stating that heavy explosions will be heard from a training exercise within the area.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated on Thursday that the Federal Government has launched a combined operation and training exercise to prepare security personnel to respond promptly and sufficiently to security threats throughout the country.
According to the notification, the drill will take place today (Thursday) at the Idu Train Station.
Olumuyiwa said the office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the NPF, “wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on THURSDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2024 FROM 9:00am to 2:00pm.
“Members of the public are hereby enjoined not to panic as the exercise, which will come with heavy sounds of explosives, will be carried out in a controlled environment with no possible danger to residents as it is aimed at simulating response to emergency situations.
“Thanks for your understanding and support always”.
