Davido, an Afrobeats artist, has claimed that he has received threats following his criticism of the Nigerian economy on an American podcast.
According to GREENMAX REPORT, Davido cautioned US citizens on the American podcast ‘Big Homies House’ not to consider relocating to Africa, particularly Nigeria, because the country’s economy is in “shambles.”
His comments sparked outrage, with famous Nigerians such as Joe Igbokwe, Reno Omokri, and others openly condemning him.
Responding to the response, Davido stated that his detractors are upset because performers are the “real ambassadors.”
He posted on his X account, “Yall mad cus we the real ambassadors!”
In another tweet, Davido claimed that his December gig in Lagos is under jeopardy due to his words.
He tweeted, “They say they’re going to cancel my program because of my interview… LOL, I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”
