The Directorate of Road Traffic Services has warned drivers to take caution owing to the dangerous driving conditions created by the foggy and hazy weather common during the Harmattan season.

Dr Yusuf Suberu, the Federal Capital Territory squadron head at the Vehicle Inspection Office, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.

Suberu observed that the dry season is distinguished by foggy and hazy weather, which reduces visibility and increases the danger of traffic accidents.

He underlined that this season necessitates more road safety awareness, asking drivers to be disciplined and cautious to avoid accidents.

He appealed to motorists to avoid excessive speeding, particularly driven by the desire to make multiple trips for financial gain.

“The ember months are notoriously busy on the roads, but both drivers and pedestrians need to prioritize caution to ensure their safety and the security of their belongings.

“Motorists have a responsibility to maintain their vehicles in good working condition, including regular servicing, to prevent accidents.
